Surrey Health & Racquets Club v Chichester

Well the new season is here and much anticipation as we try to defend our 2010 title. We had a good crowd, looking forward to a great night of squash...and what a night they got??
Here is how the night unfolded!!

Camille Serme v Lauren Briggs
This was a good game of squash with the 1st rally being well over a 100 shots. 1st game was point for point with both players moving each other around the court and creating openings to the front of the court, camille edged the 1st 11-8. Camille came out fast in the 2nd game and really working Lauren and taking the ball very early to take the game 11-5. Lauren came out well in the 3rd taking a lead but was having to work hard for every point, Camille then took a run of 6 points  to take the game and match 3-0. Really quality match appreciated by the crowd.

Ben Ford v Leo AU
This match was going on the court next to the ladies and ended up being a real battle for both players. Ben started well working Leo around the court to take the 1st 11-7. Leo came out hard in the 2nd and 3rd working Ben hard around the court and took the games 11-3 11-4. In the 4th Ben gained some control back and with both players tiring came out with some strong winners to take it 11-8. The 5th was point for point all the way but Leo was retrieving well and forcing Ben into a few mistakes and Leo edged it 11-8. A great game of squash!
Surrey H&RC 1 Chichester 1

Davide Bianchetti v Robbie Temple
This number 1 string was always going to be tight and it turned out to be that way. Davide started very steadily working his opponent to the corners and being very disciplined to take it 11-6. Robbie fought back in the 2nd coming out quicker and more attacking to take the 2nd game 11-6. Robbie continued the pressure in the 3rd to take a 5-0 lead but Davide got his length and discipline back to pull back and take the game 11-8. The 4th game was point for point with both players playing high quality squash with hard long rallies but Davide from 4-7 down pushed through to take the 4th game 11-8 and the match 3-1.
Surrey H&RC 2 Chichester 1

Adrian Waller v Tim Vail
This match was always going to be tough for Adrian with all of Tim's racket skills. Adrian started well with an excellent length and width and creating openings at the front to take the 1st 11-7. In the 2nd back came Tim with some devastating nicks and tight squash to win 11-9. In the 3rd Adrian settled down and gained control of the match with some steady and controlled squash taking the 3rd 11-6 and then the 4th 11-6. Well played Adrian and Tim, was a superb entertaining match.
Surrey H&RC 3 Chichester 1

Peter Nicol v Max Lee
This was going to be an exciting match with the legend of squash taking on the young very fit guy from Hong Kong. This turned out to be the match of the night with Peter showing superb court movement and racket skills and working his opponent all round the court, Max was playing well aswell with some incredible retrieving but Peter staying ahead of the game and in control. After 55 minutes of unbelievable squash and a standing ovation from the supporters for both players Pater took the match 3-0,  11-6 11-9 12-10
Surrey H&RC 4 Chichester 1

This is a great start to the season for us and it was a really great night with both teams competing hard. I wish Mike Phillips and his Chichester all the best for their upcoming matches.
